Summer Tote Bag with Kaffe Fasset’s Ribbons
From our friends at Sew4Home:
"Don't be afraid of colour." Words to live by from master textile artist, Kaffe Fassett. And when our friends at Renaissance Ribbons sent us a photo of this stunning Kaffe Fassett tote, designed for them by Elaine Schmidt, we were bowled over by its vibrant palette and patterns. The bag features both Fassett's beautiful fabric and his rich, jacquard ribbons. Elaine was kind enough to allow us to run her instructions as a Guest Tutorial. You'll love it... like tossing a rainbow over your shoulder.

Charming Crazy Quilt application-Allison Aller
From Allison Aller, designer:
"I have begun doing a series of "Home Portraits", integrating photos printed onto fabric with embroidery and embellishment. "Barbara's Door", 13" X 18", was a gift for my friend Barbara Curiel, an English professor at Humboldt State University. The quilt arrived at her home right after she and her husband Michael returned from their honeymoon!
I had asked her for a quotation to embroider on the piece, and she sent me this, from Emily Dickenson: "Where thou art, that is home." Isn't that lovely?
The Renaissance Ribbons trims serve not only as a border, but also as the binding for this little quilt. It was so easy to apply, and I plan on doing much more of this.
LFNT-100/25mm col 3 and LFNT 101/38mm col 3
Incidentally, I will be teaching a class in Home Portraits at the Victorian Stitchery Retreat in Witchita, Kansas in November 2011. http://www.valeriebothell.com/retreat.php

Reversible Ribbon Belt by Sew 4 Home
Belts are fun to make. They're fast and easy, and use just a tiny bit of fabric or, in this case, just a few yards of ribbon! This particular project is double the fun because the belt is reversible. We show you two different ways to stitch and turn so the belt ends are finished and the side seams super flat. Try one for your own wardrobe, as a gift for any occasion, or as an item to make and sell.
Sew 4 Home
Sew 4 Home selected 2 Best sellers from Renaissance Ribbons:
Kaffe Fassett's green Plink (KF-01/38mm col 1)and
Laura Foster Nicholson' fun Squares on Black (LFNT-124/38mm col 2)
Try the Tutorial, it clear, realistic and fun to follow!

Suzani Flowers in a Provencal color palette
From Laura Foster Nicholson
"We have had a runaway best seller with the Suzani Flower design.
Not only have I done it in ribbon, but I have also had 2 doormats produced by Crate & Barrel spring & fall last year with those big, happy flowers. Now I am glad to announce that we have brought Suzani Flower out with a modified, lighter palette for spring. My partner Edith Minne at Renaissance Ribbons, who is charmingly French, suggested this palette as more South of France in inspiration an a softer, yellow gold ground. This ribbon LFNT-114 col 3 is available in 2 widths, as are the others: 7/8" (22mm) and 1.5" (38mm).Think spring."
