Charming Crazy Quilt application-Allison Aller

From Allison Aller, designer:

"I have begun doing a series of "Home Portraits", integrating photos printed onto fabric with embroidery and embellishment.  "Barbara's Door", 13" X 18", was a gift for my friend Barbara Curiel, an English professor at Humboldt State University.  The quilt arrived at her home right after she and her husband Michael returned from their honeymoon!
I had asked her for a quotation to embroider on the piece, and she sent me this, from Emily Dickenson: "Where thou art, that is home."  Isn't that lovely?

The Renaissance Ribbons trims serve not only as a border, but also as the binding for this little quilt.  It was so easy to apply, and I plan on doing much more of this.

Incidentally, I will be teaching a class in Home Portraits at the Victorian Stitchery Retreat in Witchita, Kansas in November 2011.  http://www.valeriebothell.com/retreat.php
